STI Testing at the Weekend and Out of Hours in London

It's Saturday morning, something from last week is on your mind, and you'd rather not wait until Monday to find out.

You don't have to. Our Harley Street clinic tests for STIs on Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00 to 14:00, as well as on weekdays. FAST results are back in 6 hours, and weekend samples reach the lab the same day.

When you can come in

The clinic is open seven days a week for STI testing. Weekday hours are longer. Weekend hours are shorter but still cover a full visit, from consultation to sample collection, with the same range of tests as during the week.

The visit itself is the same at the weekend. You get the same doctor-led consultation, the same sample types and the same lab processing on a Sunday afternoon as on a Tuesday morning. Only the hours change.

Booking late at night

You can book whenever it suits you. Online booking stays open around the clock, so a booking made late at night secures an appointment the next morning, with no need to call back later.

Plenty of people do exactly that. At our clinic, 23% of sexual-health appointments were booked outside office hours, between 18:00 and 08:59. A further 7% were booked between 23:00 and 06:59, in the middle of the night. Weekends accounted for 23% of our sexual-health visits. Most patients book close to the day they want to be seen: 64% of appointments were booked for the same day, and 85% for the same or next day.

Booking online guarantees your appointment at a time you choose. Walking in during opening hours works too, when there's capacity.

Which test to book at the weekend

Every test can be booked on a Saturday or Sunday, at the same price as during the week. Choose a FAST Screen for a same-day answer, a Bronze Screen for a lower-cost standard panel, or a single test if you already know what you want checked.

Timing your test after sex

When you test matters as much as which day you come in. Testing too soon after a possible exposure can give a false negative, because the infection hasn't yet reached detectable levels. Our guide to when to test after sex sets out the window for chlamydia and other common infections.

It's still worth booking a weekend appointment if you're inside the window. A doctor can advise on timing at the consultation. You can then come back for a repeat test once enough time has passed, at the weekend or during the week.

If the risk was in the last 72 hours

PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis, the short course that can prevent HIV after a high-risk exposure) isn't provided here. If your exposure was within the last 72 hours, contact an NHS sexual health clinic or go to A&E, since PEP needs to start as soon as possible.

What to bring and how the visit runs

Every visit starts the same way, whether you walk in or book: a short consultation with a doctor, then a urine sample, a swab or a blood draw, depending on the test. You don't need to bring anything, and you don't have to use your real name.
