PRIVATE NGU AND NSU TESTING IN LONDON

Non-Gonococcal Urethritis (NGU) and Non-Specific Urethritis (NSU) affects both men and women and often causes concern and worry. The cause is usually inflammation of the urethra as a result of an irritation or an infection.

When is NGU and NSU testing needed?

If you experience symptoms i.e. an unusual discharge, discomfort of the urethra, or a burning sensation while urinating, consider testing. It is important if you had unprotected sex or believe you were recently exposed to a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Early detection is necessary for effective treatment and prevent any possible complications.

Why is testing important?

Testing is important for your sexual health and peace of mind. If an NGU or NSU is left untreated it can result in more serious complications, i.e. chronic pain and/or infertility. Testing also helps prevent the spread of the infection to your partner(s). We recommend regular testing as an important and necessary preventative measure to keep yourself and others sexually healthy.

Procedure

  • Preparing for testing
Avoid urinating for at least two hours before your test to ensure the result is accurate. Fasting and other special preparations are unnecessary.
  • During the test
Our experienced and friendly staff will guide you during the test. It is quick and simple involving a swab or urine sample. We always prioritise your confidentiality, privacy and comfort.
  • Results
We ensure efficient and confidential result processing and will contact you to discuss your results with the necessary guidance and advice on what you need to do next.

Symptoms

The common symptoms of NGU and NSU include a burning sensation while urinating, discomfort, or itching of the urethra. Some people however are asymptomatic, which make testing important.

How does it spread?

NGU and NSU is spread by unprotected sexual contact. It is important to communicate with your sexual partner(s) any concerns you may have with your sexual health.

Our STI testing packages

The only difference between the Platinum Screen and Gold packages is an additional human papillomavirus (HPV) swab test which includes 16, 18 and high-risk strains in the Platinum Screen but they are basically the same. Please speak to our team for further advice which is best for your situation.
