Ureaplasma are the normal genital flora of women and men. It is usually harmless but an imbalance can result in infections: urinary tract infections (UTIs) sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and complications in pregnancy.
A burning sensation on urination or an unusual discharge is the usual symptoms of an infection. It is important to get tested if you have multiple sexual partners or enter into a new sexual relationship.

Ureaplasma can resolve without treatment. However, we recommend testing to avoid potential complications.
Antibiotics are effective in treating Ureaplasma infections. Your test result will determine the most appropriate medication/treatment.
Ureaplasma can affect pregnancy causing problems and preterm birth. Pregnant women need to test for Ureaplasma if symptoms persist and appropriate treatment given.
